iSMA CONTROLLI, based near Genoa, Italy, was formed in 2021 from valve and actuator maker Controlli and Global Control 5, the Polish company that created the iSMA brand. Its lineup covers the whole building: the MAC36PRO, a Niagara 4 controller with 36 I/O, and the iSMA-B-J9, iSMA's JACE 9000, at the supervisory level; nano EDGE ENGINE controllers such as the VAV14-IP and RAC18-IP for VAV boxes and rooms, programmable from Niagara Workbench; Sedona-based AAC20 and fan coil controllers; and MIX, MAX, and MINI I/O modules on BACnet and Modbus. Vertex installs iSMA controllers and I/O, programs them, and integrates them into Niagara 4 or another BACnet front end.

Expansion, replacements, and service

Added I/O and controllers on existing iSMA systems, end-of-life MAC36NL controllers replaced with the MAC36PRO, troubleshooting, and backups.

What is iSMA CONTROLLI?
An Italian building automation manufacturer formed in 2021 from Controlli and Global Control 5, the company that created the iSMA brand. It makes Niagara 4 controllers, nano EDGE ENGINE and Sedona-based controllers, I/O modules, and room panels.
Do iSMA controllers work with Niagara?
Yes. The MAC36PRO and iSMA-B-J9 run Niagara 4, nano EDGE ENGINE controllers can be programmed from Niagara Workbench, and the rest of the line integrates over BACnet and Modbus.
Our MAC36NL controllers are end-of-life. What now?
iSMA's direct replacement is the MAC36PRO. iSMA lists last-time-buy for the MAC36NL through December 2026 and Niagara 4 updates through 2028, so there is time to plan a phased swap.
When do you use iSMA I/O modules instead of another controller?
When a site needs more points but not more logic. MIX and MINI I/O modules add inputs and outputs to an existing controller or supervisor over BACnet or Modbus, which is often cheaper and simpler than adding a controller.
Do you work on iSMA CONTROLLI systems outside Louisiana?
